Teacher
I have a twenty-three year history of teaching in higher education, including thirteen years as an Assistant Professor of Music at Cornerstone University from 1997-2010.

I currently serve as an Assistant Professor of Music at Calvin University, a top-rated Christian liberal arts university in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where I teach music theory, composition, music technology, and piano.

I am an experienced teacher who loves to help students discover new ways to think about music, challenging them to develop outstanding technique and musicianship while encouraging them to explore styles that are outside of their comfort zones.
My piano students have successfully gone on to graduate study, have become nationally recognized recording artists, and can be found playing and leading worship in churches all over West Michigan and beyond. My composition students have scored professional video games, won international competitions, and written and recorded outstanding original worship music.
